Next time you lock up your shop.

Next time you go to turn out the lights and you roll down the doors and swing close thoses gates; you should consider the possibility of some intruder exploiting any weakness in your defenses. Long story, short. We thought we were covered. Last Thursday night we got hit. A hand full of grinders covered by insurance. No big deal right? Well, they also got a laptop, a 3- drawer top box. and a bench grinder all just from one area where I do the CNC. The tool box had all the craftsmen wrenches you could think of and one drawer had all my unused finger bits, core drill bits and non-core bits. The laptop was sporting a hardware key(dongle) which allowed full functionality of the italian software exclusive to and necessary for our machine. Two years ago with the dollar strong and the euro weak it cost just about $3000 for just one key and license. Friday with the exchange rate taken into account i got the quote for the replacement as being in the neighborhood of $7500. ( Thank God for Insurance) So, point being. Reinforce your security. Watch for suspicious behavior. Carry insurance.
