We are planning to remodel a decent sized kitchen in a Westchester, NY 100 yr old home. Are there any technical reasons to avoid using a relatively affordable granite like Milford Pink instead of using a Brazilian like Giallo Antico? Also are there any special maintenance concerns in using one of these lighter stones, instead of a charcoal grey granite??? My wife and I think the aesthetic look of the lighter stones is big for our house. Our kids are grown, so little fingers are not a problem for us - but, sooner or latter we will probably sell and retire - and a family is the most likely kind of buyer - we certainly care about the property value after we are done.
