I have slate floors in my house - installed new 13 years ago. I am disappointed in the floors now, because the original lovely colouring in the slate has now become mostly just a brown colour floor. I periodically restore the shine to the floors by re-sealing, and before re-sealing I give the floors a good wash, with a solution, or just a light detergent and thorough rinse. However, the floors just look a shiny brown colour and I wonder where the original "primrose dawn" (the colour name of the slate) has gone. I have asked advice at slate places, but they just say to give the floors a good wash, and re-seal, but that original colour has not returned. What can I do?
