Different sandstones react differently to pools. Is the pool Salt water ? Or chlorinated? For example Salt can get into the stone through the constant wetting and drying you would expect around a pool. The water finds its way into the stone by capillary action. When the water drys away it leaves salt crystals behind these build up over time and effectively jack the layers of stone up. The only way to minimise this effect would be to use a good quality dense sealer. This will only mitigate some of what you see. I would suggest that you get a qualified stone consultant in to make some observations. The problem you will have there is finding someone who actually knows what they are talking about..C
