Pink Porrino Granite

I am planning on laying pink porrino granite over the floor of a public lobby and am wondering if I should apply a sealant to the back and edges of the granite slab to prevent water from causing damp stains to the granite. When I last laid a lightish coloured granite (Kashmir White) I applied a sealer to the back and edges of the granite but over time, damp stains appeared along the joint lines of the slabs. I suspect the damp stains were caused by the daily use of a damp mop over the floor which could have driven the moisture into the granite slab through parts where the surface or edges were more porous.
What would you advise?
